*Please Note: At this time,
infant massage instruction is only available for postpartum doula
clients. We apologize for any inconvenience.
What is infant massage?
Infant massage is an ancient art that supports attachment, nurtures
bonding and promotes safe, healthy families. Classes are offered
in a group (4-6 babies) or individual setting and the massage strokes
are taught by the instructor while all hands-on work is done by
the parent.
Is infant massage for me?
If you are a parent of a new baby then infant massage is for you!
The class is for babies 3 weeks and older (pre-crawling, please)
and their parents.
The benefits are many, and include:
Promotes deeper, longer sleep
Decreases symptoms of colic
Increases infant immunity
Regulates the circulatory, digestive and respiratory systems
Increases endorphins
Is a wonderful way to spend time with and connect with your baby
What can I expect?
Infant massage is taught in a 3-week series of classes lasting
approximately 90 minutes each. The classes include articles about
infant massage, a written description of the strokes, and a bottle
of oil to use for the 3-week duration. You will learn a combination
of Swedish and Indian massage strokes for a full-body massage, reflexology,
all of the benefits of massage, specific techniques to help relieve
colic and how to massage the growing child.
When taking a class, please prepare by having a pillow and blanket
for your baby to lay on, wearing comfortable clothes and having
an extra cloth diaper or towel for possible messes.
How much does it cost?
Costs for the 3-week series are:
$85 per baby for a group class of at least 4 babies.
$120 per baby for individual instruction.
$100 per baby for individual instruction for families who are doula
clients.
(Please note: for doula clients, the infant massage instruction
is integrated into our work together and does not provide an additional
90 minutes of the instructor's time.)
